Honeymooning or getting married in Rome, Italy? What a lucky couple you are. A new world awaits you but there are a few things to think about while you visit this luxurious destination.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when visiting Rome, Italy:
- Cash Should Always Be on You - Although credit cards are still accepted in many shops, the majority of places you visit will require you to spend cash. Restaurants, in particular, shy away from processing cards and just ask for cash instead.
- Need a Tip? You don’t have to feel compelled to tip when in Italy because it is not obligatory. Service charge is often included in your bill so no need to drop anything extra, but that’s not to say the one receiving the tip won’t appreciate the gesture-had you been in Japan, it would have been a different story. But Italians are more ‘open’ to your generosity. Besides, who doesn’t want a little extra cash in his pocket?
- The Bar is Better - When ordering coffee in Italy, make sure you do so at the bar and not the table. Why? The former doesn’t incur service charge but the latter most certainly does. Matter of fact, it doubles your bill. Anytime you step into a cafe, make an order at the cashier first, then walk over to the bar with your receipt in hand and choose any beverage you wish.
- Cappuccino is Time Sensitive - Cappuccino is time sensitive? What does that even mean? Well, Italians have something of a taboo that you might find either odd or amusing. Ordering cappuccino after noon is regarded as something of a ‘food crime’. The reason why this is so is because Italians don’t kid around when it comes to their bellies and as such, milk is labeled a beverage that’s too heavy on the stomach, meaning its best taken during breakfast.
That’s just one food crime. Believe us, there’s a lot more. Never heard of the others? Why not head on over to Geauxing Places Travel in Denham Springs, Louisiana, and we’ll tell you all about them?
