Have you always dreamed of having a vacation in Ukraine? We at Geauxing Places Travel in Denham Springs, Louisiana, would love the opportunity to turn that dream into a reality for you. We are experts when it comes to making travel plans that are enjoyable and interesting so for Ukraine, read through the following tips that you will find useful on your visit.

  • The Places to Go Are Kyiv, Lviv And Odessa
  • You cannot claim a trip to Ukraine without a visit to the capital Kyiv and then Lviv and Odesa. Kyiv is a great tourist destination and is also known as the mother of all Russian cities. Lviv is the unofficial capital and is rich in historical codes, antiquity and modernity. At Odessa, you can enjoy round the clock parties and fun beach holidays.

  • Enjoy Weekend Shopping
  • Unlike other European countries, Ukrainians tend to take their rests on Mondays and are open for business all other days of the week including Sundays and Saturdays. This makes it ideal for weekend shopping as most shops are open from 10 am to 10 pm.

  • Cash Is Better
  • Ukraine uses a currency called the Hryvnia (UAH) which you can convert your dollars to. Using credit cards can be tricky as each bank has a different conversion rate and it is quite hard to find an international ATM. We advise that you convert your currency beforehand.

  • Time Shifts Twice A Year
  • In Ukraine, the locals change their clocks in spring for the summertime and then again on the last day of October for the wintertime. Make sure to note the changes depending on what time you travel there.

  • Try the Local Cuisine
  • There are popular chains called Puzata Khata that serve local dishes, beverages and more. You can try Salo (Pork fat) and borscht with fritters and also banush which is corn grits. For dessert, we suggest cottage cheese pancakes known as syrniki with smetana (sour cream).

  • Forget About Tap Water
  • Tap water in chlorine has a high content of chlorine, making it only suitable for washing and other domestic uses. Ask for bottled or sparkling water at the restaurants. In Kyiv, you can find public well-rooms that offer filtered water which is safe for drinking.

  • Do Not Get in A Drinking Match With A Local
  • The most common beverage in Ukraine is vodka! You’ll lose. They have a different dozen kinds of vodka and vodka can be found in almost every venue as they originated from the west of the country.
